Context And Mission


The data-centric computing (DCC) group from the computer science department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center searches for one research engineer willing to work on a research project with a private company. The project is focused on dual-behavior and intelligent agents based on Large-Language Models (LLM) for Continuous Learning in production systems, aiming to bridge the gap between autonomous, data-driven learning and conscious, knowledge-driven reasoning in machine learning agents. For this, we are looking for a research engineer to join the DCC group. The candidate will receive formation in order to leverage and increase the knowledge of the topics involved in the project.


Key Duties


  • Design, implement, and evaluate a multi-agent architecture for Continual Learning with dual-behavior agents based on Large-Language Models
  • Disseminate the results of the project (preparation of presentations and writing of deliverables, articles, and reports)
  • Collaborate in the management tasks of the project
  • Give support to other researchers and engineers in the team

Requirements


  • Education
    • MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Advanced skills in machine learning, deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning
    • Mastery of Bash/Java/Python/R languages and scripting
    • Experience on supervision and debugging of AI workflows in distributed platforms
    • Familiarity with MLOps, Cloud, and resource management in distributed systems
    • Experience with virtualization and containers
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Previous experience on research projects will be valued
  • Competences
    • Written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to work in teams, take initiatives, prioritize the tasks and work under set deadlines
    • Proactivity, motivation, and leadership

Conditions


  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
  • Starting date: 1/1/2025
