We are looking for a Scientific or Technical Associate Translation Specialist to join our talented translation team in Clarivate, Barcelona.

In this role, you will use your language skills in areas such as Life sciences, Pharma, Chemistry/Biomedical engineering, etc. to perform post-editing and proofreading of patent content from your working languages into English to ensure that the patent contains the most precise, pertinent, and up-to-date information.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

• University degree in Translation or a Scientific /technological field (Eg. Engineering, Biochemistry, etc.).

• Excellent read and written English with excellent read, spoken and written French or German

• Proficiency in a third language, such as Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish or Italian

It would be great if you also had…

• Prior experience as a linguist using CAT tools, preferably in technical contents

• Prior experience in quality control.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Customer-driven approach and good business awareness.

• Visible “can do” approach to work and positive attitude to change.

• Detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, able to meet deadlines, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner to achieve organizational goals.

• Demonstrate initiative, persistence, ability to problem solve, and enthusiasm for learning.

• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision.

What will you be doing in this role?

• Analyze machine translated weekly publications of patents to assess quality of the MT output.

• Review editorial suggestions applied to local translation dictionaries, approve valid suggestions and oversee updates to master dictionaries or translation memories.

• Manage customer cases and operational requests for translation enhancement, allocate retranslation/enhancement requests and manage any associated updates to the master dictionaries and translation memory.

• Provide data analysis and reporting from periodic quality benchmarking reviews.

• Provide analysis and feedback of quality assurance data to external vendors to drive continuous content improvement.

• Provide analysis and suggestions for process and content improvements as part of daily role or through participation in project teams.

Hours of Work

This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August). The position is hybrid going to our office in Barcelona (next to Sagrada Familia) 2-3 times per week.
