As Deputy Director, Business Development, you will drive new client acquisition and grow revenue for Devex Talent Solutions, focusing on executive search and recruitment services. Collaborating directly with the DTS Managing Director, you’ll build successful partnerships from the ground up - building relationships, defining solutions, and developing proposals. Your role will also involve playing a key part in marketing and outreach activities, expanding DTS brand awareness, and growing our client base.

We are seeking an outgoing and results-oriented professional based in the Washington, DC area with a proven track record in business development and demonstrated success in generating revenue. The primary focus of this role involves face-to-face meetings with prospective clients and engagement with the leading global development organizations in the Washington, DC area. As a representative of DTS, you will organize local industry meet-ups and attend relevant events. Expect some domestic and international travel (approximately 15%), and occasional flexibility outside regular business hours, especially for virtual meetings with clients and team members worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development

  • Research and identify new business opportunities; develop strategies to pursue and secure new contracts and funding opportunities.
  • Work with DTS MD to drive client acquisition & refine DTS market positioning through collaboration & strategic planning.
  • Execute outbound sales activities with precision, leveraging a mix of strategies such as targeted email campaigns and in-person meetings. Continuously capture the attention of potential clients and establish meaningful connections.
  • Collaborate across the organization to collectively achieve revenue targets and overarching business objectives to grow DTS.
  • Implement a systematic approach to sales cycle management by tracking key performance indicators. Regularly report on progress toward assigned sales targets, allowing for data-driven insights and strategic adjustments.

Client Engagement and Presentations

  • Hold in-person meetings with prospective clients in the Washington, DC area.
  • Engage in a consultative process designed to define client needs and challenges.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations that communicate DTS expertise and solutions.

Marketing and Outreach

  • Play a key role in marketing activities to enhance DTS brand awareness.
  • Organize local industry meet-ups and attend development community events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a marketing or business development role, preferably within the executive search industry or a similar B2B environment.
  • Proven track record of exceeding business development targets and closing deals.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong client relationships, showcasing excellent interpersonal and communication skills to understand and address client needs.
  • Experience navigating cross-cultural communication nuances, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively in an international business context.
  • Deep understanding of the executive search industry and global development is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adept in response to the evolving needs and dynamics of the business, ensuring effective navigation of changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Proficient in CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and self-driven with a strong work ethic.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, or a related field.
