National Christmas Jumper Day! Friday 11th December 2020. Even though the country has been changed by the coronavirus pandemic, there’s one thing that hasn’t been stopped or altered – and that’s @savechildrenuk Christmas Jumper Day. Have you signed up? The team at Acquire Care have and we are very excited! https://www.acquirecare.co.uk/news/national-christmas-jumper-day-friday-11th-december-2020/ (see link in bio ⬆️) Don't forget to check back here tomorrow to see photo's of us in our Christmas jumpers!
Coronavirus: The second lockdown. Now that we are in another lockdown, Acquire Care’s main aim is to ensure that all our staff and clients stay secure and safe. We are still visiting clients as before, enabling them to stay at home in a safe and independent environment – just expect us to look slightly different as we will be wearing face masks or shields and other types of PPE. New guidelines and rules have been agreed following the advice of the Government, Public Health England and Oxfordshire County Council. These include strict guidelines concerning personal protective equipment (PPE). Masks, visors (face shields), aprons and gloves are given to all our carers to use when visiting clients to protect both our clients and our carers. We have a stringent coronavirus policy which all staff and carers must support and keep to. All our carers and staff are fully trained in-house. They frequently have their temperatures taken and are asked how they are feeling. They are supported if tests are needed or if they think they should self-isolate. Now is the time for flu vaccinations to be given and carers are being advised to take advantage of the free vaccinations supplied by GPs and pharmacies. When the coronavirus vaccinations are available, carers will be encouraged to have these as well. Acquire Care follow the Government’s and Local Authority’s guidelines. For more information, please visit https://www.gov.uk/ Please be reassured that new sets of gloves, aprons, masks and visors are given for every care visit that is made. There are no limits on how much personal protective equipment is given per visit. It is hoped that this helps to prevent any worries that you may have when welcoming a carer into your home. Congratulations to every one who entered the Acquire Care Sunflower Competition. The number of entries received was incredible. Some of your gardens must have looked spectacular throughout the summer. Also, we were amazed at how far the word was spread around the countryside. Photographs were received from miles away, including entries from the Isle of Wight to Scotland, not just around Oxford. Now, it is time to announce the worthy winners: • The winner of the Child Category was Emma Hager with a fantastic entry. The diameter size of her sunflower head was 31cms. • The winner of the Adult Category was Reece Stewart whose entry of 30 cms diameter was the best from the adult competitors. Well done to you both. We will be in touch with you to award you your prizes. We would also like to thank everyone who took time to enter the competition. All the entries brightened up the office of Acquire Care and bought smiles to everyone.
🌻It is almost time to judge the Sunflower Competition and hand out the prizes to the winners. Have you checked your plants recently to see if they are worthy winners or have you forgotten about the Acquire Care Sunflower Competition? To enter and find out more visit: bit.ly/3fMXacr Good luck!🌻
Carers Week: 8th – 14th June 2020: Making Caring Visible. Many people are carers. They are all ages, both young and old. There are so many that it is good news that six well-known charities have come together to promote the needs of the carers themselves. Usually the emphasis is on the people needing care but these charities are trying to promote the needs of carers this week. The charities are: Age UK: www.ageuk.org.uk Carers Trust: www.carers.org Carers UK: www.carersuk.org Motor Neurone Disease Association: www.mndassociation.org Oxfam: www.oxfam.org.uk Rethink Mental Illness: www.rethink.org Read more here: https://www.acquirecare.co.uk/news/carers-week-8th-14th-june-2020-making-caring-visible/ #CarersWeek #carersweek2020
How are your sunflowers growing? They should be enjoying the lovely sunshine we are having at the moment, especially if you are remembering to water them regularly. Or have you forgotten about the Acquire Care Sunflower Competition? Not to worry if you have forgotten though. There’s still time to buy your seeds and get planting – especially as the winner is not the tallest but the one with the largest head. There are two age categories – adults (over the age of 16 years) and children (16 and under). To enter the competition, it’s easy. Just click on the link on our bio. The Prizes 1st adult prize: £100 Amazon gift voucher. 1st children’s prize: £100 Amazon gift voucher.
This is Mental Health Awareness Week. The chosen theme is Kindness. Many people have been marvellous over the last few months when the country was in full-lock down due to Coronavirus-19. Kindness has been shown in so many ways – from helping to purchase someone’s shopping, to walking their dog. So many different types of kindness that they cannot all be mentioned. Often it is just the small acts that mean the most. For example, keeping in touch with friends and family by telephone, email or social media is good for both you and them. However, it must be remembered that you must also look after your own mental health and wellbeing, don’t be kind to others and forget yourself. Read our latest blog for some different ways that you can be kind to yourself: https://bit.ly/3cZryzP (link also in bio).
Green fingered and fancy a sunflower growing challenge? Every year, one of the office team has a competition to see who can grow the biggest sunflower. This year we thought we’d offer everyone the chance to enter the Acquire Care Sunflower Competition. Sunflowers are part of the Company’s logo and they appear everywhere in the office. There are two age categories - adults (over the age of 16 years) and children (16 and under). To enter the competition, it’s easy. Just follow these instructions: https://www.acquirecare.co.uk/news/sunflower-competition-2020/ or click the link in the bio! Good luck and happy growing! 🌻
